Some natural ways to improve your digestion during lockdown

Today is World Digestive Health Day.  Here are a few tips to naturally aid your digestion and immune system for a healthier, happier, fitter you.

Eat a balanced diet comprised of natural foods, especially fruits and vegetables as a major part of the diet.  Since it is summer, now is the perfect time to add some berries, papaya, mangoes, and watermelon which are packed with antioxidants
Hydrate.  Drinking lots of fluids helps keep your digestive system hydrated, as well as enhancing your immune system.  In addition to water, coconut water and lemon aid in the summer will help keep your system well hydrated.
Avoid overeating.  This can be a hard one while being locked down because food takes on an even bigger aspect of our daily lives.  Try to avoid binging on fried or fast foods since these will put a burden on your digestive system.  Ready-to-eat foods have additives and preservatives which can harm the gut microbiota, leading to diseases ...

PSA - Help for Angelenos in need

This is a trying time for all of us. Whoever expected that we would all be part of a global pandemic the likes of which we have never seen. Feels like we are all actors in some Sci-Fi apocalyptic movie, doesn’t it?
The other day, as I was entering CVS to pick up some medication for my dog, there was a 30 something woman with a sign asking for any help that could be offered. I told her that I didn’t carry cash with me, but I would be happy to help in some other way. She told me that some eggs and milk would be much appreciated. So, along with my box of Pepcid for my dog, I grabbed a carton of eggs and milk and gave it to her. Who knows. Maybe she is a laid off restaurant worker with children, just trying to find a way to provide for her children. She was so appreciative.
Then, as I was driving by my local high school, I saw someone standing in the driveway with a sign saying “Grab N Go - Enter Here”. What is Grab N Go? Well, I didn’t realize that since ch ...

Don’t Get Burned – Get a Home Inspection to Save Money on Your Next Purchase

Okay, you made one of the most important decisions in your life: you’re buying a home! You found your ideal Southern California home. It’s in your desired Los Angeles Metro Area neighborhood, close to everything you love, you dig its design and feel, and you’re ready to finalize the deal.
But, whoa … wait a minute! Buying a home isn’t like buying a toaster. If you discover something’s wrong with your new home, you can’t return it for a refund or an even exchange. You’re stuck with your buying decision. Purchasing a home is an important investment and should be treated as such. Therefore, before finalizing anything, your “ideal” home needs an inspection to protect you from throwing your hard-earned money into a money pit.
A home inspection is a professional visual examination of the home’s roof, plumbing, heating and cooling system, electrical systems, and foundation.
There are really two types of home of inspect ...

Making Little Feel Big: Tips to Upsize Your Small House

Has your home started to feel a little small for your family?  It happens to the best of us.  The things we own gradually end up colonizing a lot of our free space, and the house which felt “just right” a few years ago can suddenly feel as tiny as a shoe closet.
Fortunately, there are some simple tricks you can try to supersize your small space.  Most of these tricks are a matter of changing perspective rather than opening up more square footage.  Before you try them, consider a real effort to declutter first.  If your declutter campaign falls short, though, these tactics may come to your rescue:
Lighten up the walls.  Color can make the difference between breezy, cozy, and claustrophobic.  Dark colors on walls make them seem smaller and denser, while lighter ones broaden your view and reflect more light.  While white can be a bit harsh, there are other cheerful tones such as lemon, mint, and cornflower which can transform a space. ...

TAP INTO MY NETWORK FOR LOCAL RESOURCES

Usually, when Real Estate Agents talk about referrals, people assume they’re hunting for new listings or more buyers to represent. This isn’t one of those posts!   In fact, I wish more people would come to me looking for referrals in the community.
A good real estate agent knows people in the community you can trust, and I’m always happy to provide the connection.   If you think about it, agents pretty much interact with all of the people dedicated to protecting, improving, or maintaining your biggest asset: Your home. Whether it’s a local insurance agent, an honest contractor, or a crack crew of yard and maintenance people, agents are great sources of “who you should know.” (We’re also reliable sources of locals-only community info!)
It’s too bad that agents are often involved only in the sale or purchase of a house.  I prefer to think of myself as a lifetime consultant to my clients, and providing the names of people I ...
